Mount Hiei Enryakuji Temple
Enryakuji Temple is located on the border of Kyoto and Shiga Prefecture, and occupies the entire 848-meter-high summit of Mount Hiei.
Hieizan consists of three areas: the East Pagoda, West Pagoda, and Yokogawa, each with a central main hall and hundreds of halls and temple buildings scattered throughout.
It has such a long history that it is called the mother mountain of Japanese Buddhism and has been officially recognized as a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage site.
